The club’s fundraisers for the current Rotary year provided over $43,000 to be used for club projects, scholarships, and grants to local charitable organizations. The club’s foundation board of directors met during May to allocate these resources. The attached list contains the amounts awarded at their May meeting. There were 19 requests for grant funds; of these, 15 agencies were fully or partially funded.
A new club project supports the Food Pantry Program. Members who have supported this program realize the price of food and other products used to stock the pantry have become more expensive. Under the new program, a member can be reimbursed up to $100 when a purchase is made for the food pantry. Funding for this was made possible by donations in the amount of $1,739 which were received at the Rotary Open House last December hosted by Allie Montney.
At our June 9 club meeting, checks will be presented to agencies receiving grants. There will also be a presentation to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flights. Their attendance at our meeting offers our members an opportunity to meet and encourage these charitable organization who are making a difference in our community.
