Fletcher Farrar Reflected on the Illinois Times and Journalism
This past Monday, June 5, our Speaker was Fletcher Farrar (lead image and left), Editor and Owner of the Illinois Times, a weekly publication that remains vibrant today and is fast approaching its 50th anniversary.  Mr. Farrar gave an engaging presentation that chronicled the changes in staff and location of the Illinois Times throughout the years and then provided perspective on the recent diminishment of local journalism in Springfield and nationwide. He was introduced by a former Illinois Times staff member, our own Sharon Smith (below). Our club previously recognized Fletcher as a Community Paul Harris Fellow so he is well-known and was well-received by his audience.
