Rotary Clubs Collaborate on International Project

The Rotary Club of Springfield partnered with The Rotary Club of Moradabad Midtown in northern India on a $63,000 USD project to provide computer systems, including video projectors, to bring e-learning to sixteen schools across District 3100 in India. All the schools were in economically disadvantaged areas. The Springfield Rotary Foundation, on behalf of the Club, contributed $1,000 to the project. Rotary District 6460, our Club’s district, contributed $10,000 and The Rotary Foundation matched the Club and district funds for a total contribution of $21,500 toward the project.

The Rotary Club of Springfield previously worked with The Rotary Club of Moradabad Midtown on a water reclamation project in 2011. Based on a prior relationship, including joint projects, The Rotary Club of Springfield arranged for the E-club of Ukraine to also participate in the e-learning project.  The pictured, metal sign will be posted at each of the schools. Note that the names of our Club president, secretary, and project contact appear on the sign, along with that of our District Governor and participants for the E-club of Ukraine.

The International Service Committee is presently engaged in reviewing a water project in Honduras and in early investigation stages of a potential project in Vietnam. Please contact Neal Miller, 741-0450, if you have an interest in the Club’s international service.
